NARUC is pleased to announce that the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) are pursuing an Energy Regulatory Partnership through cooperation and funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The partnership provides the opportunity for the exchange of experience and information between U.S. and Nigerian regulatory bodies with the goal of improving regulatory practices and fostering long-term sustainable relationships between regulatory bodies in both countries. This partnership will allow the NERC to have broad access to US regulatory practices and will enable the MPSC to learn new techniques and methodologies as well as gain an understanding of the international regulatory environment. The first exchange took place in July 2008, during which a delegation from the MPSC visited the NERC in Abuja.
